The house had been added to over the years in a haphazard way and we took the plan back to basics and defined each area and use of space in a way to suit the occupants and provide a logical ergonomic flow.

The additions included a gymnasium with training pool and jacuzzi, redefining the kitchen, eating and service areas, enlarging the living space and creating a master bedroom suite and a contemporary guest suite. Every room in the house was altered and in addition a three-car garage with workshop was provided at the front of the house.

The entrance is via a magnificent front door leading into a triple-height space with dramatic staircase sweeping upwards, taking the eye through the glass balustrading and glazed rooflight and the shimmering chandelier.

One of the original concerns that my client had was the lack of natural daylight in the old house. By the clever addition of fenestration and placing of glazed rooflights we have created vast deep spaces, which are all naturally lit and bright.
